Petters: Sun Country will Be More Than An Airline

Such as businesses selling " in-flight offerings such as satellite TV, Internet access, digital video disc players and magazines". In our opinion, it is tough enough to be a good airline.

Statements like this make me very nervous. If you want to do all that, why not just cut out the airline -- the least profitable of the busineses -- and sell that stuff directly.

It looks like he's trying to replicate the Ryanair model byt selling everything that isn't nailed down. Only problem is that people actually fly places on Ryanair. Sun Country isn't exactly on people's list as a top airline. I keep up, and all I can tell you is that they are based in MSP and I'm surprised they're still flying.

Getting a brand and identity with travelers should be Petters' first order of business. Just an opinion...

Sir, as a former employee of SY, I can tell you they do make money, and have since day one, 4/02. They do not spend money if they don't have to.

Right now upper management is on the ball. They may be small right now, but they can adopt quickly.

OK...so why screw up a good thing?

Sounds to me like they are taking a bigger bite than they can handle.

Sun Country has been struggling to remain profitable which is one reason it needs to grow. I don't believe Petters realizes what it takes to bring certified IFE systems to the market. Even the mighty Rockwell Collins is taking a second look as Panasonic, Thales and LiveTV duke it out for the most market share.

they have been "making" money before april 2002...

in august of 2001 i bought tickets for my whole family to fly from msp to los angeles round trip for the 13th of september...

well, we didnt end up flying that day, and to this day they never gave any refund and never let us use the tickets on another date

i think cusomer service and less greed higher up is what they need
